Heap Profiling with Heaptrack

Records every malloc/free/realloc with full call stacks using KDE’s heaptrack.

Usage

# CLI (opens browser)
memguard heapprofile /tmp/binary
memguard heapprofile /tmp/server --args "--port 8080"
memguard heapprofile /tmp/server --timeout 30

# Via GUI: click purple "Heap Profile" button

# Prerequisites
sudo apt install heaptrack

Visualization Tabs

  • Heap Timeline - SVG chart of memory over time with peak marker

  • Top Allocators - Table sorted by peak bytes with proportional bars

  • Flame Graph - Stacked bars showing call depth proportional to bytes
